Always my most anticipated collection, when I first clicked on Wang's Fall 2013 looks I struggled. Where is the 'I NEED TO LOOK LIKE THAT' feeling that I got without fail when perving on his earlier collections? Come on Harriet, it's Wang, there must be something. I'll click through look by look. As is often the case, it is in the details where Wang comes into his own.
Fur skirts? Yes. Deconstructed fur mini-briefcase wth unmistakable Wang angles and clasps? YES. But where are the shoes; what are these legwarmers? Are my dream shoes, the ones that'll make my whole wardrobe my whole life fall into place, are they under there?
I know I shouldn't, I know that saying this is sacrilege, that fashion is not static etc etc etc. I know that the world and its festivals have been Erin Wassoned to death, I KNOW, but... here it comes... I actually found myself craving the simple sexiness of his Resort 2009 collection. What the hell are us hipsters gonna imitate en masse? There were a few pieces (fur sleeved leather jacket, shredded tee) that had this potential but, soz, I think I'll be sticking with the accessories this season Alex. I haven't got the Wang of this at all.
